Design

Your story stands, has passed the editing round and now is the time to shape your book. The design of your book not only determines the first impression it makes, but also the extent to which it appeals to and retains readers. It is a crucial step in creating an attractive and professional final product that stands out among the many other books on the shelf.

What does designing a book entail?

In this step, there are a lot of decisions to be made, all focused on the appeal of the final product. It has to look nice and convenient. This starts with choosing the right paper that will determine how the book feels. Next, you need to make decisions about font, how to display images and what colors to use. In this step, you create the interior layout and design an attractive and unique book cover design.

Choose the paper type

When choosing the paper for your book, it is important to think about your readers so that you make the right choice. In fact, the type of paper affects how the book looks and how it reads. With us you have a choice of different types of paper, each with their own advantages. For example, uncoated paper has a matte appearance and is excellent for reading texts. Are you creating a book that makes extensive use of images? Make these come to life with coated paper in a glossy or semi-matte finish.

Format of the book

An important step in designing your book is choosing the format. With us you can choose from standard formats, such as A4, A5 or 170×240 mm. Do you have a unique format in mind? Discuss this with us! We can also have a book printed that perfectly suits your needs.

Formatting of the inside work

The interior of a book includes all the pages and elements that are inside the book. Consider the images, text, table of contents, etc. The inner workings determine whether it is easy for the reader to read. In this shaping process, keep in mind such things as font size and style, line spacing and margins. In addition, you determine whether images or other visual elements should be added to enhance the content of the book. Do you want the book printed in full color or do you go for a classic black and white look? You also have the option of using PMS printing that takes into account consistent color usage like that of your corporate identity.

Book cover finishings

After designing your book, you can choose from different finishes to give it a polished look. With us, your book always receives a protective layer of laminate. We apply a thin layer of plastic to the book cover to protect it. Here, choose from a glossy finish or a matte laminate finish.

Make the cover extra eye-catching by choosing special finishes such as Spot-UV. This creates a glossy effect on certain parts of the cover, which is even available in a 3D effect. In addition, you can choose to have the cover embossed, a technique that adds depth and texture. With embossing, a design or text is embossed onto the surface of the cover, creating a tactile enhancement. Would you like to add a matte or luxurious metallic sheen to the book cover? Then foil printing is the ideal choice, perfect for highlighting titles or logos.
